Coarse Fishing at Christchurch Harbour, Lower Avon and Stour

Christchurch Harbour, Lower Avon, Stour and Claypool offers some of the best Coarse fishing in Dorset. Coarse fish are found in large numbers with Roach and Dace offering quality sport in winter. Large Pike are found above and around Tuckton Bridge and Carp up to 30lb in weight are caught along the towpath and bandstand area.

From Knapp Mill to the confluence of the two lower sections of the Avon is managed by Southern Fisheries.

Annual Prices for the Year 2018 for the Lower Stour and Harbour

Children under 14 can fish free of charge but must get a free ticket from Davis Tackle and must be accompanied by a paying adult.

2017 Fishery Report

Dace – up to 1 lb with millions(!) of them in the harbour.

Roach – largest just over 3 lbs – significant bags of roach up to 55 lbs (picture of this taken on 04/10/17 which I can get hold of if needed).

Perch – largest over 3 lbs – lots of fish at that weight. (Perch where found mostly up the River Avon both in the area we directly manage and the area leased to the Royalty Fishery (Waterloo Pool).
